TPWD Fly Fishing Instructor Certification

If you have completed the TPWD Angler Education Instructor Workshop, and would like to obtain the Fly Fishing Instructor Certification, an upcoming class will be held on 15 August 2026 at the new Honey Creek Ranch State Natural Area near Guadalupe River State Park on Hwy 46 between Bulverde and Bergheim.

As of 24 June there are 12 open slots available. 

Participants will need to bring their own fly rod & reel with a complete line setup to use during the workshop. The workshop is for those interested in learning and teaching fly fishing skills in their communities.

The workshop will present fly-fishing teaching methods in casting, aquatic ecology, line setup, and flies, as well as educational resources through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Angler Education Program.

NOTE: Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear appropriate for both indoor and outdoor activities. And bring a bag lunch and plenty of water for hydration.
